The first Duke label was yellow and purple. Bottom 2/3 of label is yellow, top 1/3 is purple with
"DUKE"
above center hole in yellow on purple. Printing is purple. Second label is similar to the first except there
is
a purple band around the perimeter of the yellow lower two thirds. Third label is orange blending to
yellow
around the center hole, printing in black, DUKE above the center hole in white. Forth label was green,
with DUKE in yellow above the center hole, top hat to the left of the Duke logo and white gloves to the
right. Distributed by ABC/Dunhill Records at bottom.
Duke issued several stereo albums, but
the earliest of these was rechanneled. The original issue of The Best of Bobby Bland [Duke
DLPS-84] featured some true stereo, but the reissue on ABC [DLPX-84] is all mono. Albums known to
have been issued in stereo have the "DLPS-" prefix; the "DLP-" prefix indicates the LP was originally
mono only.
