When Liberty bought Imperial, they started an aggressive campaign to sign new talent to the label.
The 1964-67 period was unquestionably the most successful period in the label's history, if album charts
are any indication.
With the purchase of Imperial, Liberty also changed the label design to one similar to the Liberty label,
with a vertical line down the left side of the black label, and pink and white areas to the left of the line.
The old "stars and rays" label was used for a short time into 1964; at some point late in the "stars"
label's use, the old black special stereo label was discontinued and "STEREO" printed on the "stars and
rays" label.
