The LL 3000 series began as a replacement for the LL-1 series in 1958 about the time stereo
records were introduced. The 3000 series was a main series used for both pop and classical releases.
There are an unusually high number of unused catalog numbers in this series. Some of these numbers
were reserved for non-US releases.
All the issues on this page used the old London logo (as shown above) on the record jacket.
The stereo counterparts of the LL 3000 series were both in the PS 100 series and the CS 6000
(Classical) series, with no correlation between mono and stereo numbers. The PS-100 series is covered
in part 12, including several stereo-only releases. After PS-249, the mono and stereo releases shared
the last three digits of the catalog numbers, so starting with LL 3250/PS 250 (in Part 5), the mono and
stereo releases are listed together.
The London releases on this page in the LL-3000 series used the old-style red label (far left), while the stereo releases in the PS-100 series used the old-style stereo labels (near left). The "ffrr" logo on the mono label stands for "full frequency range recording," while the "ffss" logo stands for "full frequency stereophonic sound." | ||
Releases in the LL 3000 series whose stereo releases were in the CS 6000 Classical series used the red classical stereo label with silver print. |
