Jolly Rogers Album Discography

The Jolly Rogers record label was an MGM-distributed label run by Kenny Rogers and his brother Leland Rogers. The label started in 1972 and lasted until 1974.

Four of the five albums released on this label were by Kenny Rogers and the First Edition, and the other one, the Stanley Steamer album (featuring vocalist Holly Vaughn), is produced by Kenny Rogers.

The Kenny Rogers and the First Edition records were released after they left Reprise and before Kenny Rogers went solo. None of the albums charted, which probably hastened the demise of the group. The group did get a country charter with the single "Today I Started Loving You Again" [Jolly Rogers 1004], which reached #69 on the country charts in the summer of 1973.

The label is grey, with "JOLLY ROGERS" written in black letters in the form of an arc at the top of the label, upon the label logo which consists of the famous "skull-and-crossbones" pirate sign. The following text is written in black lettering in the form of an arc at the bottom of the label : "MANUFACTURED BY MGM RECORDS, INC., 7165 SUNSET BOULEVARD, HOLLYWOOD, CALIF. 90046". Promotional labels were the same but had a "D.J. COPY, NOT FOR SALE" overprint.
