COL-CD-7115 - The Legend, The Man - Jimmy Reed [2000] Reissue of Vee-Jay LP-
8501, with stereo upgrades. A very interesting album, because before each song there is an interview of
Jimmy Reed by Calvin Carter. Each song represents a year from 1953 to 1964. Unfortunately, the
interviews (in mono) on this CD are taken from disc, with surface noise and other sonic anomalies.
Fortunately, the music sound has received a significant upgrade from the all-mono original, as the songs
from 1959 on are in true stereo. Unlike the 1984 cassette version of this album, "Found Love" was not
added to the end, opting for the original lineup (although I believe the addition of "Found Love" was an
inspired exclamation point to the album). Every fan of Jimmy Reed should have this album, if for no
other
reason than for a peek into the life and personality of "the legend, the man." High And Lonesome
