The Heart of Rock 'N' Roll series was just another repackaging of top-40 hits, but with some occasional lower-chart or no-chart songs thrown in. Its focus was the pre-British Invasion rock and roll hits. Although the 1964 and 1965-1966 volumes were chronologically post-British Invasion, they contained none of the British Invasion hits. For those who bought The Rock'n'Roll Era series, there was precious little here that was new, but this was the 1990s, not the 1980s, and a lot of new buyers were around that had never heard of the earlier series.
