Argo changed its name to Cadet in 1965. With this change came a new label design, one that was
also used for Chess and Checker releases thereafter. After 1971, the Cadet label was issued in a
consolidated series with Chess, and the continuation of the Cadet label can be found in The Chess Discography, Part 3.
The first Cadet label
was light blue with dark blue printing, "CADET" in dark blue above the center hole. The second Cadet
label was light blue at the top of the label fading to white on the bottom, printing was black. "CADET"
above the center hole in block letters with the top of the letters red, white in the middle and blue on the
bottom. Promotional issues used the same label with the addition of DJLP.
We first list the continuation of the 600 Jazz series (754 and above), followed by the continuation of the
4000 Blues series (LP-4046 and above).
We would appreciate any additions or corrections
to this discography. Just send them to us via e-mail. This story and discography are copyright 1997,
1999, 2005 by Mike Callahan.
