Columbia Consolidated Series Album Discography, Part 5The catalog prefixes for the Columbia Consolidated Series denoted the labels, with C=Columbia,
E=Epic, F=Fillmore, H=Harmony, L=Columbia Legacy, M=Columbia Masterworks, S=Masterworks
Soundtracks/Original Cast recordings, Y=Columbia Odyssey, and Z=various distributed labels. G was
used to designate a double LP. There was often an additional letter indicating a price code (e.g., KC for
a deluxe priced LP on Columbia) or a number indicating the number of LPs in a set (e.g., M5 for a 5-LP
set on Columbia Masterworks).
The Columbia Consolidated series from 30800 to 30999 were issued in 1971-1972.
The Columbia label (far left) was red with black print with the label name in yellow lettering around the edge. The Columbia Masterworks label (near left) was similar but with a grey background with black print and yellow lettering around the edge. |
Columbia Odyssey (far left) was also similar, but with an orange background with black lettering around the edge. The quadraphonic label used for several of these issues below was similar to the other Columbia labels, with black print on a gold background and the "Columbia Quadraphonic SQ" notation in red around the edge.. |
Some of the Harmony label issues on this page (far left) had a light brown label with black print and a white logo at the top, and some small "fine print" in white around the bottom. More often, the gold label with black print and a red logo with red "fine print" around the bottom was used for "Harmony Headliner Series" issues (near left). |
The Monument label (far left) was brown with black print, with a small yellow rocket logo at the top. The New Design label (near left) was gold with black print, with the blue ND logo at the far left of the center hole. |
The generic Douglas label (far left) was red with black print, with the label name a box at the left side of the center hole, and an irregular yellow vertical stripe near the right side of the label. This label was not used for most of the Douglas issues, which used a custom label (see individual albums below). The Epic label (near left) was yellow with black print, the same label that had been used for Epic releases during most of the 1960s. |
The Barnaby label was blue with black or greenish gold print, with the Barnaby logo in a white box at the left of the label. The TMI label (near left) was light blue with black print, with the purple-and-white TMI logo at the top. |
