Wicked Records was an Englewood, New Jersey, label owned by Wilson Pickett, and bears his
nickname, i.e., "the Wicked Pickett." It was distributed by T.K. Productions in Miami and was operating
between 1975 and 1976. Wicked put out one album and three singles. Two of the singles, both by
Wilson Pickett, charted: "The Best Part of a Man" [Wicked 8101, 11/75, #26 R&B] and "Love Will Keep
Us Together" [Wicked 8102, 3/76, #69 R&B]. The latter was a remake of the Captain & Tennille/Neil
Sedaka hit of a year before. The third single was "Hush Don't Talk About It"/"The World Keeps Turning"
by Carl Gardner & the Coasters [Wicked 8103].
The Wicked album label (far left) is black and orange with a white (or yellow) stripe, and black lettering. The "WR" logo is written in black and white stylized lettering at the top of the label. The following text is written in the form of an arc at the bottom of the label: "DIST. BY T.K. PRODUCTIONS-495 S.E. 10th CT., HIALEAH, FLA, 33010". Singles (near left) used a similar label. |
