L.A. International (LAX) Album Discography

This label was sometimes called LAX Records or L.A. Records because of the logo, which was the letters "L" and "A" with the tails crossing into an "X". Of course, the L.A. International Airport has the abbreviation LAX. Nevertheless, the label name was L.A. International, which appeared in the small print around the bottom of the label. It was owned by Jerry Goldstein of FGG Productions, once known as the Strangeloves and producer for the Angels and many others. Goldstein ran Far Out Productions, which produced albums for quite a few labels and consolidated reissues of many of these under the LAX banner.

The label for the early GG-58000 series was black with silver print (far left). The logo at the top was an "LA" with intersecting tails making it look like "LAX." Around the bottom of the label was, "L.A. International Records, Los Angeles, CA 90046 - Made in U.S.A. - All Rights Reserved." The label for the MCA-distributed series (near left) was similar, with a "Far Out" logo to the lower left of the LAX logo. The notation at the bottom was similar, but included "MFD by MCA RECORDS, INC."
The label used for the Columbia-distributed series (far left) was green with black print, with a blue field resembling a hill at the top, on which stood the drawing of a sheep with the LAX logo on the sheep's back. Around the bottom was written "©1980 L.A. INTERNATIONAL RECORDS INC., 7417 SUNSET BLVD., LOS ANGELES, CA 90046." The label for the LAX 1050 series had a similar logo at the top, but without the hill. The label was silver with purple print. The note at the bottom of the label read, "MFD BY ALLEGANCE RECORDS LTD, 7625 FOUNTAIN AVE. HOLLYWOOD CA 90046 - MADE IN U.S.A. - ALL RIGHTS RESERVED".

The numbering for the MCA-distributed and Columbia-distributed albums are discontinuous because they were part of the consolidated catalog sequence, which included all their various labels.
