The earliest singles on Swan had a white label with dark red printing. This color scheme was changed slightly around late 1959 to a more medium red color. Late in 1963, the color scheme changed more radically, to silver print on a black background. It was this color change that differentiates the September, 1963, first issues of the Beatles' "She Loves You" from the more common 1964 reissue. Even later, Swan reissued "She Loves You" with blue lettering on a white background. Starting at about the time of the changeover to black labels, the phrase "Don't Drop Out" was added to the left side of the label. This was Swan's contribution to the growing problem of teenagers dropping out of high school.
