Twinkle was a children's sublabel of Premier Albums, Inc. of New York City. They seemed to have
a limited number of tracks which they endlessly repackaged into many albums with different covers.
Some of the early albums were repackagings of albums previously released on Robin Hood Records,
and several mid-series albums were the same albums released on the Rocking Horse label.
The early releases often featured cartoonish drawings by Vicki Calabrese. The album artists were rarely
identified, probably since they were a collection of tracks by various artists, probably studio musicians
who recorded singles under various names in the 1950s. The albums on the Twinkle label were
apparently all mono. Release dates are approximate.
Covers from TW-1 to TW-31
used the block logo shown above. Starting with TW-32, the logo on the cover changed to that shown at
right.
Twinkle attempted to identify these records as "Educational Products" for different age groups, e.g., 3-6,
4-8, or 6-10.
The basic label for this entire series was yellow with black print (far left). A variation (near left) had green print on the yellow label. | ||
Variations for repressings included an orange label (far left) and a green label (near left). |
