Promenade was a subsidiary of Synthetic Plastics Company of Newark, NJ.
Promenade released more 45s and 45rpm EPs than albums. The earliest albums were 10" LPs in the
6000 series from 1955 to 1956. A much longer series of albums, the 2000 series, started on the Parade
label then switched to the Promenade label. These were mono releases; the stereo counterpart were
mostly on the FM-1 series, which was shared with the Pirouette label (and can be found in that
discography). Finally, the CH-1000 was a series of Christmas records, which after CH-1009 switched to
other labels.
The label used for the 6000 series of 10" LPs was dark red with the label name bending around the top of the label in a silver field (far left). Near the end of the series, and some of the issues in the 2000 series, used a blue label with the same design (near left) and a black label with the same design (not shown).
For the FM-1 series (listed in the Pirouette discography), stereo labels included the green label similar to above (far left) as well as the Promenade/Pirouette label shown at near left.
The Promenade 2000 series issues used several labels as shown above, with a new black label (far left) used starting in the 2090s. About the same time, the FM-1 series used a Diplomat overprint for FM-94 and above (near left). |

Promenade/Pirouette FM-1 Series (Stereo): This series is covered under the Pirouette discography.
Promenade 2000 Series: The 2000 Series was a long running series that was shared by several labels of the Synthetic Plastics Co. Early numbers (2001-2049) were on the Parade label, probably before the Parade label was purchased from Premier Albums, Inc. (Releases from 2001 to 2049 in this series are listed under the Parade discography.) A few of these Parade albums were reissued on Promenade with the same numbers. The series changed to the Promenade label starting at 2050 about 1957, apparently after Synthetic Plastics Co. bought the Parade label from Pretige Albums, Inc. Finally, a few reissues were on Diplomat. The releases in the 2000 series were all mono. Corresponding stereo versions are found in the FM-1 series and the Spin-O-Rama label.
