These were single
disc offerings, in fact budget records with only 8 or 9 tracks on each album, a far cry from the lavish box
sets Time-Life had been offering to this point. On the other hand, 1981 was Time-Life's first foray into
Country music (hardly their usual "good music" fare), and they also had the box set Country
Classics out at about the same time. The label for this series was yellow with brown lettering. There
were twenty volumes, and by the number of these that show up in used record stores these days, it was
a popular series.
