Bamboo Album Discography

Bamboo Records was a 1969-70 US label distributed by Scepter Records (not to be confused with it's more famous British reggae label namesake). Bamboo was run by Yolanda Hardin, the mother of Mel Hardin and the aunt of Tim McPherson, who together were known as Mel & Tim. The cousins, from Mississippi, were in Chicago when they were heard by Gene Chandler, who became their producer. They had a hit song in 1970 with "Backfield in Motion" [Bamboo 107, #10] and followed it with "Good Guys Only Win in the Movies" [Bamboo 109, #45], but their hit string ran out, as did the success for Bamboo Records. They later signed with Stax Records and in 1972 had a top-20 record with "Starting All Over Again" [Stax 0127].
