LP-2054 - Music from the Pajama Game and 8 Top Hits - Various Artists [1954] This
was pressed by RCA, and has their coded master number (E4CP-8690-1/E4CP-7582-1), the "E"
meaning 1954. The record is polystyrene and the sleeve is heavy paper with foldover sides. It obviously
was a first-attempt effort to put an inexpensive LP on the market. The label is the usual Cadence
maroon "metronome" label. Side 1 is "The Pajama Game" by the Ray Charles Singers with Archie
Bleyer's Orchestra, and side 2 is "Eight Top Hits." The next year, this album was split into two albums, a
1twelve-inch and a ten-inch (LP-2055 and LP-3055). Racing With The Clock - Ray Charles Singers/I'm

cover and blank back. Label is the blue metronome label, and there is the notation "Blue Label Series"
under the logo on the front of the album. It is interesting that eight years later, in 1962, Cadence had
apparently forgotten this album, since they issued the Martha Flowers 12-inch album with the same
number. Mr. Sandman - Chordettes/Hearts of Stone - Chordettes/Sincerely - Chordettes/The Naughty

12-inch 3000/25000 Series: In late 1957, for its basic pop and jazz issues, Cadence started a new 12-inch 3000 series [there was a one-LP 10-inch 3000 series in 1955]. When stereo came upon the scene in 1958, the stereo versions of the album releases were given the corresponding last three digits of the mono number, but with a 25000 series instead of a 3000 series (CLP-3057 mono became CLP-25057 stereo, etc.). For those albums below where we know of a stereo issue, the stereo number is given after the mono number. Those with only numbers in the 3000 series are thought to have been issued in mono only.

CLP-3020 - The Chordettes Barbershop Best [aka Barbershopping] - Chordettes [12/58;
possibly unissued] This album appears in many catalogs — it was even announced in
Billboard December 1, 1958 — but we have not seen a copy in over 50 years of collecting.
Although it was scheduled, recorded, and announced, members of the Chordettes told us that after they
finished recording the album, Archie Bleyer didn't like it and chose not to release it. If any copies were
sold commercially, they were very limited which would make this album quite rare.

Note: In the March 16, 1957, issue of Billboard [Page 18], Cadence is said to be preparing six albums of native Haitian music, "recorded on the island by writer Maya Daren, an authority on Haitian culture.... Focal point of the promotion will be a painting by Teiji Ito of a Haitian landscape. The painting was executed so that it can be broken up in six sections, with each segment depicting the subject of one of the six LPs in the series." These six albums were probably scheduled for release as CLP-5003 to CLP-5008. They may not have actually been released.
