STARDAY RECORDS PRODUCTIONS:

Starday Records Productions was the equivalent of other labels' "Special Products" or "Special Markets" divisions. The specialized in making albums sold by licensees for television sales. Two of these licensees were Great Country Music, Inc., and Homestead. The interesting thing about these Starday-licensed albums was that they all promised lots of songs (25 songs, with 5 bonus songs!, on a single LP), and delivered. Well, sort of delivered. The songs were jammed onto three bands of three-to-five songs each, per side, which limited the sound quality to less than stellar, and often the length of the songs was edited, resulting in abrupt fades. The record "numbers" for these albums were just a three-letter combination.
