Rondo Album Discography, Part 2
The Record Corporation of America Years (1954-1961)

By Mike Callahan, David Edwards, and Patrice Eyries
Last update: November 13, 2003

When Eli Oberstein's Record Corporation of America bought Rondo Records in late 1954, it began a period of years when no albums were issued on Rondo. Finally, in late 1958, Oberstein began issuing albums again under Rondo imprint (album issues under the Rondo-lette imprint started earlier). At the beginning, the Rondo stereo ST 500 series of 12" albums leaned a bit more towards the "highbrow" music such as classical, with Rondo-lette leaning more towards pop, but the two labels soon became essentially indistinguishable. In 1960, the output on the Rondo label itself dwindled in favor of Rondo-lette. The label name was resurrected in 1962 after the label was sold to P.R.I. of Los Angeles. The Oberstein years featured a yellow label with black print.
